This is a direct replacement steel front caliper piston for the Ate caliper on E30 318i, 325e, 325i models. Brake fluid absorbs moisture, which sits against your steel calipers and original pistons. It's quite common to find rust inside the caliper bores. Often it's the rust that binds or freezes a caliper, requiring a piston and seal replacement. Your caliper may only need a good scrubbing to be returned to service. These are a direct replacement for the stock pistons in your Ate caliper.
